MAYOR WILL FLANAGAN ENDORSED BY MASSACHUSETTS COALITION OF POLICE, FALL RIVER FIREFIGHTERS, TEAMSTERS, UFCW, UTILITY WORKERS

Fall River, MA – Fall River Mayor William Flanagan today was officially endorsed by a number of labor unions, including:

• ·      Massachusetts Coalition of Police
• ·       Fall River Firefighters Local 1314
• ·       Teamsters Local 25
• ·       Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Union Local 6
• ·       Utility Workers Union of America Local 369
• ·       Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589
• ·       United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1445

A number of other unions endorsed Mayor Flanagan earlier in the week, including:

• ·       AFL-CIO of Massachusetts
• ·       Southeastern Mass Building Trades Council
• ·       Carpenters Local 1305
• ·       UAL Local 51
• ·       Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers Local 3
• ·       IBEW Local 2322
• ·       SEIU 1199

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of these tremendous organizations,” Flanagan said.  “I will always stand with the men and women of the labor movement to save the middle class and stand up for our workers.”

Flanagan was honored in 2010 as the AFL-CIO’s Person of the Year in Massachusetts, and, in a letter announcing its endorsement of Flanagan, the Building Trades Council wrote, “we recognize and appreciate that you are truly a defender and constant fighter for social and economic justice for all working men and women.”
