FALL RIVER MAYOR WILLIAM FLANAGAN SUBMITS MORE THAN

1,000 SIGNATURES IN RE-ELECTION EFFORT

Huge outpouring of support puts Mayor on the ballot

Fall River Mayor William Flanagan submitted more than 1,000 signatures for certification this afternoon, roughly 20 times the number required for his name to appear on the ballot.

“I am honored to have the support and nomination of so many Fall River residents,” Mayor Flanagan said. “Ultimately this campaign is all about the future of our city, so it means a lot to have such a vast outpouring of support. Over the past two years we have built the infrastructure we need to sustain a stronger future, and I believe that the citizens of Fall River recognize how much our Administration has accomplished.”

Mayor Flanagan kicked off his re-election last spring, and has been going door-to-door in Fall River neighborhoods to speak directly with city residents – just as he successfully did in 2009. Mayor Flanagan said he is eager to discuss his record and plans with the people of Fall River.

“I’m looking forward to a rigorous debate, and I am ready, willing, and able to discuss all the issues facing Fall River,” he said. “For two years, I’ve been fighting for our city and finding solutions to our problems. I’m very proud of what we have been able to accomplish.”
