About Will
I want to begin by welcoming everyone to our website and I want to take this opportunity to tell you how I got here.
I was raised in our neighborhoods and educated in our public schools. After graduating from Diman Vocational High School I went on to attend UMASS Dartmouth where I majored in Criminal Justice. While going to school full time during the day I would work part time at night at a local supermarket. I first started off as a cashier and within a short period of time I worked my way up to a supervisor, where I would oversee a staff of about thirty employees with a focus on customer service.
After graduating from UMASS Dartmouth I made the decision to attend law school because I wanted to learn how I could use the law to help people. While attending Roger Williams Law School I was awarded a legal internship with the city of Taunton; that internship gave me the opportunity to learn how the law affects a city and its citizens.
After graduating from law school I successfully passed the bar exam and it was at that point the city officials of Taunton recognized leadership qualities in me and appointed me as their assistant attorney. As the assistant attorney for Taunton, I gained valuable experience as an advisor to the mayor, the city council, the police and fire chief, as well as all the various departments that operate within city hall. In addition to these responsibilities, I successfully represented the legal interests of the city’s citizens.
In 2006 our District Attorney Sam Sutter was elected to office and he offered me a position to be one of his assistants. As an Assistant District Attorney I had the responsibility of supervising both the Taunton and Fall River District Courts. It was my responsibility to go into the courtroom to advocate for victims’ rights and to prosecute the criminals who plagued our neighborhoods.
I have made a strong commitment to public service and it is this commitment that has led me into the race for mayor here in our city. As your mayor, I will bring an end to empty promises and double talk. Together, we will end the culture of politics as usual and bring real change to our city.
In order to bring real change we cannot let this message of hope die. We need to take our message of hope into the streets, block by block, precinct by precinct, and ward by ward. This will be a grass roots campaign made of people who have a stake in their city and in its future.
This campaign is not, and never will be, about me. That is because it is about you. This is your campaign and as your mayor I look forward to the opportunity to get our city moving forward again. Please join me.
